Posted: 5/19/2008 Thanks to the generosity of St. John's Hospital-Lebanon, a member of the St. John's Health System & Sisters of Mercy Health System, and Saint Luke's Hospital-Kansas City, we are pleased to make available patient information forms translated in Spanish for the "Banding Together -for patient safety" initiative.

These documents should be used as a template only with permission granted by St. John's Hospital-Lebanon & Saint Luke's Hospital-KC.

The Art and Science of Patient Safety Conference a Success!
Posted: 5/14/2008 One-hundred eighty individuals convened in Jefferson City on April 8 and 9 for the “Art and Science of Patient Safety” conference. The conference was held in celebration of Patient Safety Awareness Month. Next year’s conference is scheduled for April 7-8 in Central Missouri. A summary will be available for view at a later date.


MOCPS Announces Additional Intervention Grant Funding for Just Culture
Posted: 5/11/2008 Phase two of the Missouri Just Culture collaborative is in full swing. A total of 21 organizations have been awarded additional grant funding to further support their implementation of a Just Culture to improve patient safety. The additional grant funding is part of a grant provided by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

Posted: 2/20/2008 Join us for the “Art and Science of Patient Safety” April 8-9 in Jefferson City to hear and see the latest strategies to improve the safety of care with Keynote, Dr. Michael Leonard, topics of disclosure and communication, medication safety, health literacy, the business case for safety and fall prevention. Other highlights include Dr. Munier of AHRQ presenting on the recently published PSO regulations, poster presentations of Missouri's best practices and free with registration the newly released book “Sorry Works! Disclosure, Apology and Relationships Prevent Medical Malpractice Claims” with author, James Saxton, Esq.,, available for autographs. An optional session of TeamSTEPPS, nationally developed training on teamwork and communication strategies is offered as an optional session on the 9th.
