MOCPS Helps MO HealthNet Providers Comply with New PSO Participation Regulation
Posted: 9/14/2009 The Missouri Center for Patient Safety is working with MO HealthNet providers to assist them in complying with a new MO HealthNet regulation requiring them to contract with a PSO by January 1, 2010 for the reporting of certain adverse events, root causes and participation in PSO activities to reduce errors, in addition to other provisions.

MOCPS’ Culture/Stop Blood Stream Infections Collaborative Launched September 2
Posted: 9/14/2009 On September 2, this Greater Metropolitan Kansas City and Northwest Missouri project was launched. Lead by the Missouri Center for Patient Safety and the Missouri Hospital Association, in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Quality and Research Group, funded by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, the project will lead to establishing a unit-based safety culture and implementing evidence-based clinical interventions to prevent blood stream infections.

Compendium of Infection Prevention Strategies Released
Posted: 11/13/2008 Four national organizations have released a compendium of strategies to help prevent the most dangerous infections impacting hospitalized patients. The compendium includes the latest guidelines and scientific evidence about what hospitals should do to prevent staph and infections, ventilator-associated pneumonia, bloodstream infections caused by central-line catheters, and urinary tract and surgical site infections.
