As the executive director of the Center for Patient Safety and participant in the Center’s Speakers Bureau, Becky Miller is leading critically important efforts to bring healthcare providers together to assess and improve the culture for safety and use data, information and evidence-based practices to improve the safety of care and reduce harm.
Becky’s experience stems from management of health system-based quality, safety, compliance, medical staff and customer relations efforts as well as national and statewide performance measurement systems and health policy activities. As Executive Director, Becky uses this experience to direct a successful nonprofit organization, grow one of the nation’s most active Patient Safety Organizations (PSO), as part of a federal-based program, and lead education, training and collaborative efforts to improve the safety culture for both healthcare professionals and those whom they serve, ultimately reducing the incidence and harm related to medical mistakes and errors.
The result, the Center is the trusted PSO source and system for over 200 healthcare providers for the collection, analysis and reporting of their confidential medical adverse event data.
Becky holds a Masters of Healthcare Administration degree from the Executive Program in Healthcare Administration at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives, a member of the National Association for Healthcare Quality and of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers, and is certified as a Professional in Health Care Quality and a TeamSTEPPS™ Master Trainer.
