Using Data to Improve Patient Safety

On September 6th, 2012, over 100 participants at the Hospital Engagement Network (HEN) meeting in Columbia learned how the Missouri Center for Patient Safety is using patient events submitted to its database to help hospitals across the state improve patient safety.  A lively discussion ensued as the attendees played “Monday morning quarterback”, analyzing a case study and suggesting process changes which will provide safer care for future patients.

Participation in the Missouri Patient Safety Organization provides a “safe” and confidential environment to network with safety experts and peers, and opportunities to dive into system vulnerabilities to identify causes.  Most importantly, analyzing and learning from the data submitted by hospitals across the state results in prevention of patient harm!  Learn more about the Missouri Center for Patient Safety PSO.
