Dr. Rose Porter joins MOCPS in support of its work helping all Missourians receive the safest care.
Jefferson City, MO. – March 6, 2012 – The Missouri Center for Patient Safety, MOCPS, an independent, nonprofit located in Jefferson City, announced Dr. Rose Porter, Emeritus, is a new member of its board of directors.
The board of directors governs MOCPS operations, including its function as a federally-designated Patient Safety Organization (PSO) and as a leader in providing solutions and resources to improve patient safety and the quality of health care delivery.
Dr. Porter replaces Dr. Julian Sebastian, previous dean of the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Nursing.
Dr. Porter received a Diploma in Nursing from St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, completed a BSN and an M.A. in Nursing Service Administration from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, and a PhD in Administration of Higher Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Columbia, Missouri. She has been a faculty member since 1979, teaching a variety of courses at the University of Iowa-Iowa City, the University of Texas-Houston, and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
“It is a privilege to serve on the Board of the Missouri Center for Patient Safety,” said Porter. “It is imperative that all seeking health care receive the safest of care from all health care providers. I am honored to help all Missourians receive the safest care and MOCPS’s resources and efforts are at the heart of safe care for all.”
“We are very pleased to have Dr. Porter joining the board of directors,” said MOCPS Executive Director, Becky Miller. “Dr. Porter’s experience as both a nurse and health educator will be invaluable to the governance and leadership of the Center.”
